Where do I begin?

So, so much has happened since I last updated the blog.

-          Joe has probably chewed/eaten 50 things. We made an appointment for a dog trainer to come over next week

-          Avery had surgery on Aug 4 for new ear tubes. One was completely blocked and her other one had fallen out. They also did a performed an ABR (hearing test) while she was under anesthesia. The ABR said she had essentially normal hearing in her left ear but her right ear still seems to have conductive hearing loss. They know its not fluid because they cleaned everything out when putting the tubes in. They think it could just be the way her inner ear is formed. They said as she grows older, its possible she can grow out of it as her ears grow.

-          Avery started school on Aug 29. She is going to the same preschool that she went to last year. She also has the same teacher which is great in helping her get a routine down. She now attends in the afternoon so she no longer gets a nap! She gets dropped off at daycare in the morning, takes a bus to school in the afternoon, then takes a bus back to daycare afterwards. This year she is on a normal sized school bus. Last year she rode in a van. She probably looks so little sitting on the bus seat.

-          Avery turned 5 on Aug 30. I can’t believe I have a 5 year old. I feel so old! We had a beach themed party for her.

-          At the beginning of the month I was diagnosed with skin cancer (basal cell carcinoma) on my forehead. I had a spot that I originally thought was a pimple but it would never heal. I will be having Mohs surgery on Friday. Mohs surgery is a procedure where they remove the cancer, look at it under a microscope, if it shows cancer they remove more and then test again and repeat the process until they don’t see anymore. I am nervous because its on my face and I have no idea how much they are going to have to cut. They said I would be getting stitches. They also said I could be there as long as 4 hours. That’s a long time while sitting awake while they cut me. Here is some more info on it:

-          Reagan now pulls herself up on everything! She says Mama though she doesn’t know what it means. She is also eating more and more “real” food.

       We decided to replace our living room floor 2 weeks BEFORE Avery's party... bad idea. It was a lot more work than we thought. We pulled up the carpet and the floor underneath looked amazing..though we already had bought a replacement floor. Then we notice there was mold so we had to rip up the old wood floor,  and replace the sub floor. Then there was a huge problem with leveling it. It was insane. I had to take the kids some place every day after work for almost two weeks because we had no floor. Luckily Tim and his friends worked hard and it was done (except for baseboards) before the party. 

-          We are starting to plan Reagan’s party since she will be turning 1 next month! Time is flying!
