A day full of 1sts!

I had a  3 week follow up with my doctor on Monday regarding the D&C. Everything was good. He recommends we wait two cycles before trying to conceive. The results were not in yet of the chromosome test for the baby.

On Thursday, we experienced a lot of firsts.

1.       Avery had her first field trip! Tim and I took the day off of work and went with her class to Luther Farm in Richfield, OH (http://www.lutherfarms.com/ ). I think all of the kids liked it. It was $6.50 a person and it included a hay ride, seeing the animals (turkey, chicken, cow and calf, llama, ducks, bunnies, pig and little piglets), a pumpkin cannon, snack, and craft. Each child got to take home a mini pumpkin, apple and caramel apple sucker. All of the adults got to take home a squash or gourd. It was nice to meet some of the kids and families from Avery’s class. There is one girl who is just as small, if not smaller, than Avery! We found out she was a preemie too.

2.       We had parent/teacher conferences with Avery’s teacher. It’s hard to believe Avery is old enough to have a real parent/teacher conference. It definitely makes me feel old. They pretty much said what we already knew. She is shy and timid but then warms up. They said her shyness does seem to be improving. We did find out that her safe place in the class was standing at the sand table. They said she always liked it and could always be found over there. We told them that we have seen a huge increase in the amount of babbling Avery is doing now compared to 2 months ago. The speech teacher gave us some activities/suggestions we can do at home. The speech teacher says Avery starts babbling when they are walking down to speech class but once they get into class, she doesn’t really vocalize besides saying yes and shaking her head no. They said during speech, she used to just sit and watch the teacher play with the toys. But now Avery plays with them and is slowly getting more comfortable. Overall, I think the conference went well.

3.       We found out the results of the chromosome test. Everything came back normal so the baby wouldn’t have had a chromosome condition such as down syndrome, Turner’s syndrome, extra chromosomes, etc. We found out we were having a boy! Tim and I both had a feeling the baby was a boy. I feel bad for Tim. I know he really wants a boy and I am hoping this isn’t the only chance of having one. We need to carry on the Svitak name. :)  Before the miscarriage, Tim said he liked the name Kurt, after Kurt Cobain/Nirvana. I personally didn’t want to name our baby that. If it was a girl, I liked the name Emerson but Tim hates it.  After the miscarriage, but before we found out if it was a boy or girl, I told Tim if it was a boy, he could name him Kurt. So Kurt, if you are looking down on us, I am sorry you never got to experience what a good big sister Avery is going to be someday.   :)

Wee!! One of my favorite things right now is have Daddy swing me! Daddy is also one of my favorite things :-)

 More swinging!

I was in a time out in my room and was very quiet. Mommy and Daddy came in to check on me and I had gotten into the lotion! Also, check out the cute shirt I made in preschool.

Whoops!

Daddy came into our preschool class and helped me make a shirt!

 Here is the finished product...

I love to sit on the drawer of the stove. Its my new, cute, little seat.

School is in session at Kaitlin and Eddie's house

Mommy came into the room one day and I was sleeping next to Daddy. Aren't we the cutest?!?

Daddy and I at the field trip

Mommy and I. Don't I look like I was having fun. Mommy even asked me if I was having fun and I said yes. lol

A cow and her calf. I am just learning how to Mooooooo!

This pig would not let mommy take a picture of her babies. Every time mommy tried, she would stick her snout in the way. She was actually pretty friendly.

Hay ride!

How cool is this tractor? I hope Daddy will have a tractor as cool as this one day

Where is Waldo, I mean Avery? I am hiding behind the girl in the middle wearing the grey pants.

Mommy took this pic because there is someone is my class as small as I am!

Making a cow puppet. Yes, that is where I wanted to put the 3 spots.

Getting a pic with 2 other kids in my class. Don't they look HUGE compared to me? :)

Some new pictures!

Not much has been going on, but sometimes that is a good thing!
Avery seems to be doing good in preschool. She still isn't talking much but we have noticed a huge increase in her babbling. I think one day a light bulb is going to go off and she will be talking non-stop. I picked her up from daycare today and she was like "blah blah blah blah bla la la " and was moving her hands. She definitely was saying something, I just have no idea what.

I will tell you that once your child hits preschool, you will have a crap load of paperwork come home everyday. Its unbelievable. She has 5 papers that come home in her folder each day. What scares me is that we got a paper this week saying that there has been a lot of strep throat going around at her school. By this time last year, we had already pulled Avery out of daycare because she kept getting sick. I am hoping she has developed some immunity to some things so we don't have to do that this year.

On Thursday night, Avery and I hung out with my friend Leanne and her daughter Avery. We went to the mall so the kids could play, even though Avery never plays in the play area. She is always to scared/shy.

I couldn't believe it, Avery played this time! She was running around the play area and climbing and playing on everything. Even my friend said that Avery seemed like a brand new kid! I am super excited that the mall now has a babysitting service. For $10/hr the kids can play in this cool, new play area. Now that Avery started playing in their playland, I would feel comfortable sending her there. You all know how cheap I am but sometimes $10/hr would be worth the hassle free shopping. I will update you if I ever use the babysitting service.

On Friday we had a Fall Festival at Avery's school. They had a company come in and bring some animals such as bunnies, chameleons, chinchillas, tortoises, tarantulas, etc. They had some snacks and a fall backdrop to take pictures with as well.

I go for a follow up appointment with Dr Rao (OBGYN) on Oct 19. I am not sure if he will have the results of the baby's pathology report or not. I was told it would take 3-5 weeks for the results to come back so we will see what happens.

Daddy and I were throwing down some grass seed

Look how good I am doing planting the grass seed

This is Aria and I at the mall awhile ago. She is one of my bffs

I tried feeding Chewie a Wheat Thin like this and then I got scared

Just sitting on the table, playing with my cousins

Mommy yells at me because I only eat the frosting on a donut...

Daddy randomly dresses me up one day. How cute am I??
We found a bunch of spoons in our storage area in the attic..no we don't normally keep them in the living room

Medes' bed is the best place to eat Cheetos. Chewie is just  jealous because I can fit into Medes' bed and he can't

How cute is this? Daddy gave Mommy some roses with the ultrasound pic of my brother/sister.

How cute am I with Daddy?

How cool are these balloons they made for us? Look in the background, that is the new babysitting area.

Here is Aria and I eating at the kiddie table

Playing in the cars

Aria is calling up her boyfriend

I look weird!

Eating cheese sticks at the Fall Festival

These are the faces I make when Mommy tells me to say Cheese or Smile

No wonder why Mommy calls me pumpkin sometime

In this picture you can see how messed up my teeth are from grinding them. I go to the pediatric dentist on Nov 19.

If I have to take one more pic, I am going to strangle myself with this balloon

I pull the cheese off pizza, eat the middle part of the crust and leave the rest. Oh and I get sauce all over my face

A Weekend of Firsts

Someone had a big weekend filled with Firsts!!
It was Avery’s first time sleeping in her big girl bed. She has tried to climb out of her crib a few times. She is so short that she will never get the satisfaction of actually making it out on her own. She has tried. Even when she stacks up all her stuffed animals in her crib and climbs on top of them, she still can’t get over the side of the crib. We have been waiting to switch her crib to a bed for awhile but I wanted to make sure we had her dresser and book shelf attached to the wall first. I have heard of horror stories of kids getting up in the middle of the night, climbing on the bookcase or dresser and having it fall over on them. I knew I did not want to change her bed until we made sure that was not going to happen. Tim ended up attaching the dresser and book case to the wall on Saturday. We bought her a Madagascar toddler bed set. She likes it because she likes any kind of animal. Her room was blue from the fish/ocean theme so I didn’t want to get Disney Princesses or anything pink.

She was so cute when she first saw her bed. She climbed right up in it, jumped up and down, and grabbed all of her stuffed animals. She then grabbed blankets she hasn’t touched in years and those had to come in bed with her too. Then she kept getting in and out of the bed. After that, she decided she didn’t want anything on the bed so she threw everything on the ground. We tried tucking her in a few times and a few minutes later, we would hear knocking on her door. She wanted to come out. Tim would lay her back down in bed, sit there for a few minutes and then say goodnight.

The whole process from when she first saw her bed to the last time Tim tucked her in, took about an hour. She ended up sleeping in her bed the whole night. I was worried about her rolling out because she moves around a lot in her sleep but she somehow managed to stay in the bed the whole time. I would say the first night in her big girl bed was a success.

Recently, every time I gave Avery a bath, I would complain how her hair was past her butt and was so hard to comb.  She finally got her first haircut on Sunday. I was going to go to a special place for kids, but we all know Avery and there is no way she was going to sit in a race car by herself while someone cut her hair. We ended up going to Great Clips and it actually was a good experience. They put a cape on Avery and put one on me. They then had her sit sideways on my lap. They gave her a sucker while they cut her hair. She ended up getting about 2.5-3 inches cut off. Since it was her first haircut, they give you a little card with the date and a clipping of her hair as a souvenir. It was actually very cute.  Later that night, I gave her a bath and she let me straighten her hair a little bit. It looked so nice. I had to take a bunch of pictures because for those of you that know Avery, I probably won’t get another picture of her with her hair down for 6 months. She HATES having her hair down. She hates when it’s in her face. We have tried clips and headbands but what she likes the most is just having her hair in a ponytail so that’s what we do most days. Hopefully she will start letting us keep it down once in a while.

First I decided to jump on my bed and play with the music/nightlight

Then I decided to get out of bed...

...and grab my blanket

I wrapped bunny up in a blanket like a baby
Then I got back out of bed.
Then I got back in bed and acted like a chicken...seriously, I did.

Then I had to get out of bed again...

..and I decided I didn't want any covers on my bed

Chewie had to come check it out

I finally put covers and stuffed animals back on my bed and fell asleep. Trying to get my big girl bed ready is tiring!

This is what my hair looked like before my haircut. It really needed to be cut.
I was being so good sitting on Mommy's lap
I even got a sucker! Getting my haircut isn't so bad...except when I got my sucker stuck in my hair. Luckily Mommy doesn't have a picture of that.
I was so good and everyone thought I was so cute.
My first haircut!

Here is a lock of my hair and a souvenir for Mommy and Daddy!

I let Mommy dry and straighten my hair a little bit. I hope she liked it because it won't be happening very often.
