So Much Going On

Avery was doing really well after the surgery June 15 (besides being in the hospital for a week). Then around July 8 we noticed that her one cheek was swollen, was warm to the touch and had a red mark. I called the surgeon and we got in to see him the same day. When he saw her, he said he thinks its an abscess from where they took tissue inside of her cheek. He said she had to be admitted to the hospital that day and that they were going to do surgery the next day. Poor Avery can never catch a break. They cleaned out the area really well and put a couple of stitches in. The left a little hole in case anything needed to drain out. 

We were in the hospital a few days and then sent home with an antibiotic and peridex mouthwash. She had to take the antibiotic 3 times a day and eat a liquid diet for at least 2 weeks. The antibiotic tasted really gross but Avery was a champ taking it. She didnt like it but she knew she had to do it. I dont know how she stuck to the liquid diet but she did awesome. They think possibly a piece of food got caught in the hole in her cheek and then it got infected. 

We have been busy this summer. We went to the 4th of July Parade, Kiddie Park (again), Broadview Hts Home Days and the Medina County Fair. 

I did not feel well at all :( Look how swollen my cheek is.
