Avery had yet another surgery in July. This time it was for Tonsil and Adenoid removal. I was super worried about this surgery because I know what it is like to have tonsils taken out. I was 25 when I had mine removed and it was HORRIBLE. I would do it again though because I rarely get sick now. Before, I was getting sick every other week and my tonsils would get so big that they would touch.
Avery did amazing! She had the surgery and ended up spending the night at the hospital to make sure she would eat/drink before being sent home. She did much better than we thought she would. We did keep up with her pain meds around the clock even if she was feeling ok. Avery never tells you if she is in pain. There was a point where I could tell she was really hurting and I gave her the liquid narcotic pain meds they gave us. Anyways, she healed up well and she hardly ever snores now.
Avery turned 11 on August 30. I cannot believe how fast she is growing up. Time needs to slow down.
This summer the kids got to go to Great Wolf Lodge with me and went to Tennessee with Tim and his family.
Avery started 5th grade at the end of August. She is at a new school (the middle school) and has a new intervention specialist, new bus, new routine, etc. She was a little nervous but she just goes with the flow of things. She still loves going to school and I am so happy about that. Her class has some peer pals (students that are a few years older) that help them with gym and other things. Avery loves when her pal, Ava, shows up.
Reagan started 1st grade. She was a little nervous because she didn't have her big sister to show her around. She knew a few kids on the bus and met some new friends. I am so relieved and happy that school is going well for the both of them.
This was Reagan's favorite part. They had a zoo/animal section and she LOVED feeding the parakeets. I was scared and sat right outside those doors for 20 minutes while Reagan was in there.
