They did an ekg, and her ductus arteriosis (blood vessel in babys heart that allows blood to bypass the lungs and go straight to the rest of the body) did not close after birth. This is called patent ductus arteriosus(pda). When babies have a large hole, it allows blood to go back to the lungs, it can increase blood pressure in lungs and make babys heart work harder. They are going to start her on indomethacin to close the hole . They will give her one round, see if it works and if not, give her a second round. If that doesn't work, she will need surgery to fix the hole.
